The differences between photography genres are often very subtle. Any type of photography, portrait, family, fine art, boudoir etc. can be editorialized. 
At its base, editorial photography attempts to pass a message, an idea, a feeling to the audience that goes beyond the strict capture of the subject. It’s more fun when you realize how different people can view the same image in even opposing ways.
